Well, Twilight is a real good phenomenon–I mean, where else you can find utopic series about a heartthrob in forms of a vampire?
Here, I watched the movie (and did not know at all about its basic form which was as a novel, hehe) last year, and fell in love with it. I attempted to read the third novel, since the first two have been accomplished as movies.
But I failed. I felt that the story was too long to be a mere-love-story. I felt that it was time-waisting, hehe.. So, I quit reading. I planned to read the last one of the series instead: Breaking Dawn (BD).
‘Til yesterday (before 8 pm) I haven’t got a chance to borrow BD from anyone. For compensation, I read summary of the book from wikipedia and noted some negative critics toward the book.
One of the top critics (I forget his name) viewed Meyer’s choice of the book’s narrating style has gone “out of the track”, in which involved the young werewolf’s point of view. Moreover, he explained that it depicts more violence along with its occurrence in the new wed couple’s sexual activities which is considered not appropriate for teenage girl readers. the latter thing is the main reason why some fans campaigned a what-so-called “Return Breaking Dawn” thing.
At 8 pm, I got out from my room and walked to the other room to reach an Ox pocket dict. To get to that room, I gotta pass the living room, and I passed that..but when I saw an uncommon thing laid on the table, I was startled (and of course, eager,,he…) to see the cover of thick book that finally I identified as….. BD! (that’s my sista’s n she was out)
I rushed to (only) read the most interesting parts (D-day of Ed&Bell’s wedding, their honeymoon, hehe, how Bells delivers her baby, and the last page of the book).well, personally I enjoy the story however bad the fans perceived it, coz I feel an emotional tie towards the book.
Why? Firstly, becoz I’m married (as well as Bella). Secondly, my husband adapted (it is not likely, actually..hehe) the way Edward protects Bells (but with no Guardian Mercedes, of course.. xD). Thirdly, becoz we wish to have a baby girl (as well as the twilite couple has their Renesmee :D). and the last, is becoz there was someone who called us that way: u guys remind me of Ed&Bells..
Then… I found out that the book was not as enjoyable as I thought. Edward is described as someone who is too perfect—too utopic and unrealistic, for me. Moreover, every event there was too perfect as well—amazing wedding party, smoothness of how Bells tramsforms into a vampire, how she delivers her baby, so on and so forth. Very few conflicts.
I mean, please…. I found many “greget” in stories involving characterics with their downsides. So, I partly agree with one of American critics who stated that Meyer’s stories should end in the third book. And I, well, approve Stephen King’s claim that (more or less:)‘Rowling is better than Meyer’
In the end, in spite of my negative judgement bout some parts of the story, my emotional tie toward BD is undeniable. I wish to have my own ‘Isle Esme’ and Renesmee, and my happy family life. That’s all. Amiiin^^
